Shelly is a self-described ‘comms, numbers and technology nerd – in the best possible way’. She uses her nerdiness to make sense out of chaos and create something new. Throughout her career she’s stepped into roles and projects that hadn’t been done before, always taking on complex projects that build new capability and/or shift how a business delivers results. Her success is measured by the success of her clients, the relationship they build and how much fun they have along the way.

Possessing a collaborative and inquisitive spirit, Shelly charted a unique career path that led to communications. She’s acquired a rare skill set that includes technology, process, project management, change, operation improvement projects and, of course, communications. There isn’t a project or topic that is too technical or too difficult to communicate.

With her Commerce degree (Marketing and Management Information Systems majors) in hand, Shelly started her career as a Business Systems Analyst in Information Technology (IT). She always had an affinity for communications and was the first to volunteer for projects improved understanding and engagement across the department.

A few years in and needing a new challenge, the transition to Marketing and Communications of a new technology joint venture was a natural choice. Beyond managing the brand and marketing, building internal communications and engagement quickly became a strong focus. And from that point on, she was hooked. For nearly 20 years, she’s focused on engaging and informing internal audiences while becoming a trusted communications advisor and coach to leaders at all levels.

In addition to being a talented communications strategist, Shelly has been recognized for developing and project managing practical fully implemented solutions such as strategies, resources/tools and operating frameworks that both support business goals and complement intersecting projects and operations.

Industry experience: Credit Unions, Energy, Ergonomics, FinTech, Fitness, Health Care, Highways Maintenance and Telecommunications.
